Because this book was a paperback original and I was a first-time novelist…and because it came out simultaneously with A Cold Mind, a book that kicked up a considerable amount of dust at the time…Black Gold/Red Death was never reviewed. It became one of the countless books that are annually lost in the vast continent of book publishing.

But it didn’t disappear. It’s still in print, still selling.
